The Vietnamese VinFast showed three electric vehicles.
The Vietnamese national auto concern VinFast presented three electric crossovers at once, which will soon be on the conveyor. This is the company’s own development, which appeared only a few years ago and began with the purchase of the former Vietnamese GM plant and the production of gasoline cars based on a BMW license.
The youngest of the new products is the VF31 crossover. This is a relatively compact car with a length of 4.3 meters, that is, a little larger than a Hyundai Creta. A single electric motor with a capacity of 116 horsepower is installed on it, the type of drive is not specified. By the way, all three new products use permanent magnet electric motors.
The VF31 battery generates 42 kilowatt-hours of electricity, which is enough for 300 kilometers. The manufacturer does not specify by what methodology the power reserve was calculated, however, we assume that this is the most optimistic NEDC.
The next crossover is called the VF32. It is larger, reaching 4.75 meters in length. And the motor here can be either one for 204 horsepower, or two for 408 in total. In the second case, the car gets four-wheel drive. There will be several batteries, the top-end 90 kilowatt-hour allows you to travel 504 kilometers on a single charge.
Finally, the top-end VF33 is already 5.12 meters long. It provides only two electric motors with a total capacity of 408 horsepower, and the top battery capacity reaches 106 kilowatt-hours. With it, the car can travel up to 550 kilometers on a single charge.
The two older crossovers have two things in common. Firstly, both vehicles are planned to be exported, including to the USA, Canada, and Europe. Secondly, gasoline versions with two-liter turbocharged engines produced under the BMW license are also provided for them. The VF32 has an alternative engine of 189 hp, while the VF33 has 228 hp.
All VinFast electric vehicles will be equipped with level 2-3 autopilots. At the same time, the cars are equipped with everything you need, including lidars, to upgrade the autopilots to the fourth level.
VF31 deliveries to customers will begin in November 2021, VF32 and VF33 will hit the roads of Vietnam in February 2022, and will reach America and Europe in July 2022.
