1st place: Bernard Arnault, France

The richest European and at the same time the richest person in the world is currently Bernard Arnault from France. Bernard Arnault and his family will have a combined net worth of $181.7 billion as of 2023. 

The entrepreneur of the Holding Group Arnault invests primarily in luxury items and brands such as  Givenchy, Fendi, and Marc Jacobs. He is also the owner of the business newspaper Les Echos. Due to the enormous increase in wealth, the Frenchman currently holds first place among the world’s richest people.

2nd place: Elon Musk, USA

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is the second richest person in the world. Until recently, Musk was thought to be the first person to surpass $300 billion. Most notably value-added, Tesla‘s stock split last year and its huge gain in value-added billions of dollars to its assets. For a long time, the Tesla boss dominated the ranking of the richest people in the world. However, the expensive purchase of Twitter and the currently ailing Tesla share price is from currently banning Musk to second place.

Musk now has a net worth of approximately $146.5 billion.

3rd place: Gautam Adani, India

The unknown who once pushed Jeff Bezos off the podium of the richest people in the world is called Gautam Adani and is an Indian entrepreneur. He is Chairman of the Adani Group operating in India in the energy, mining, port management, and airport operations sectors. The company owns the largest commercial port in India. He is the first Asian person in the top 3 richest people in the world. His net worth is worth $126.1 billion.

4th place: Warren Buffett, USA

The American, also known as the “Oracle of Omaha”, heads the holding company, Berkshire Hathaway. The latter is considered one of the largest companies in the world. Buffet himself currently has assets of around 107.6 billion US dollars. 

5th place: Jeff Bezos, United States

Amazon founder and former CEO Jeff Bezos is the fifth richest person in the world with his current fortune of around $ 107.3 billion.  Bezos significantly increased his wealth during the Corona crisis, as the Amazon group benefited greatly from the increased demand in online trading. However, the company has made losses in recent quarters. For a long time, Bezos was considered the richest person in the world.

6th place: Bill Gates, USA

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has lost his fourth place from last year and falls to sixth in the Forbes list of the world’s richest people for 2023. Gates was able to increase his fortune in the wake of the corona epidemic. However, he announced last year that he wanted to bequeath the assets of his charitable foundations. He is currently worth $103.3 billion.

7th place: Larry Ellison, USA

In seventh place in the ranking of the richest people in the world is Larry Ellison, founder of the US software company Oracle The American is currently worth around  102 billion dollars. 

8th place: Mukesh Ambandi, India

Mukesh Ambani is an entrepreneur from India who ousted Mark Zuckerberg from the top ten richest people in the world in the past year. He was even able to move up two places this year. His  $94.9 billion net worth  is based on his chairmanship on the board of the Indian textile company Reliance Industries

9th place: Carlos Slim Helu & family, Mexico

The Mexican ranks ninth with a current fortune of $81.2 billion, moving up a notch. Carlos Slim Helu is an entrepreneur in the telecommunications industry.

10th place: Steve Ballmer, USA

Entrepreneur and investor Steve Ballmer, with a fortune of around $ 78.5 billion, has ousted the former CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet, Larry Page, from the ranking of the richest people in 2023. Ballmer was one of the first employees of tech giant Microsoft. His career extended to the top of the group, which he left in 2014. Since then, the 66-year-old has been the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers.
