Taylor Swift was accused of blackmailing journalists for good reviews
They say that the singer really does not like criticism of her address.
‘Gossip Girl writer Eric Eidelstein has accused Taylor Swift of blackmailing journalists. According to him, the singer’s team puts pressure on the media so as not to spoil her positive image.
According to the YourTango portal, Eidelstein wrote about this on Twitter, but the post has already been deleted by now. Interestingly, the recording appeared at the end of September, a month before the release of Taylor Swift’s new album “Midnights”. But the public paid attention to it right now – most likely, precisely because of the record and its great success.
Eric Eidelstein’s remark was a response to the words of Jeff Nelson, a Consequence journalist. He publicly repented for giving Swift’s 2017 album Reputation a negative review. And then Edelstein wrote:
“Okay, but when I was a journalist, Taylor’s team threatened to blacklist the publication if it wrote something negative about her.”

The reaction to the words of Eidelstyn was ambiguous on the Web. Some thanked him for revealing the truth, while others doubted his words, believing that he just wants to promote at the expense of Taylor Swift. But most commentators agreed that there is some truth in his words. So, New York Times columnist John Caramanica said similar things. In his podcast on Swift’s Midnights, he said that journalists don’t risk criticizing releases for fear of aggressive attack from ardent fans. In 2020, Swift fans got mad at Pitchfork critic Jill Mapes for playing Folkloreonly eight points out of ten. They bombarded the journalist with threats and posted her personal data on the Internet. However, it should be noted that these stories are still connected with the fans, and not personally with Taylor Swift and her team.
The Midnight’s album was a huge success, selling almost 1.6 million copies in the first week alone and in the US alone. In the Billboard Hot 100, the entire top 10 was occupied by Taylor Swift songs – no artist has ever managed to do this before.
