Nicolas Cage to star in ‘Lord of War’ sequel
A sequel to the 2005 crime drama The Lord of War will be filmed in Hollywood. Nicolas Cage will return to the role of arms smuggler Yuri Orlov.
According to Deadline, the sequel will be released under the title “Lords of War”. The cast will also include Bill Skarsgård – the star of the action movie John Wick 4 and the horror movie It will play Anton, the son of Yuri.
The Lords of War will be directed and written by original creator Andrew Niccol (Time, 2011). The author promised to expand the universe of “Lord of War”:
“There is so much more to explore with these characters. Plato said it best: “Only the dead have seen the end of the war.” I look forward to spending more time in the company of the charming devil Yuri Orlov, as well as his illegitimate son, who, it turns out, operates outside the law.
According to the plot of the film “Lords of War”, the most famous arms dealer in the world, Yuri Orlov, learns that he has an adult son, Anton. As it turns out, Anton took after his father – he also decided to go into the “family” arms sales business. However, Anton was going to surpass Yuri, offering clients not only guns but also the services of shooters.
The meeting of father and son leads to a major conflict. Anton gathers a whole army of mercenaries to defeat his father and become the most powerful man in a dangerous market. Yuri has to engage in an intense battle with his son in order to remain the main weapons baron. At some point, Anton and Yuri begin to fight not only for power but also for the same woman they are in love with.
