M&K Sound D85 and D95 bookshelves Speakers
The Danish company Miller & Kreisel (M&K), also known in professional circles, opened a series of its purely home acoustics D with two models of bookshelf speakers – D85 and D95. Both novelties are available in matte white, black, or gray finishes with matching color magnetic grills. This harmonizes with the rest of M&K products, in particular the M&K Sound compact subwoofers of the V+ series, which, if necessary, can be supplemented with new items.
However, the D85 and D95 shelf units are promised self-sufficiency: “The D-series is capable of producing very accurate and unfatiguing sound, combining all the hallmarks of the entire M&K Sound product range,” says Per Becher, CEO of Miller & Kreisel.
It is especially noted that the speakers are good for placement on walls, on stands, in bookshelves or on the sides of the TV. Both novelties with a depth of just under 10 cm have a pear-shaped hole for wall mounting. An advanced alternative is the 100 x 100 mm VESA mount interface.
At the same time, the older model D95 covers the frequency range of 90 Hz – 20 kHz, and the younger one, D85 – 95 Hz – 20 kHz with a sensitivity of 90 and 89 dB, respectively. Both models feature the signature low compression 1.1″ silk dome tweeter found in the advanced 150 series systems.
Differences between the older and younger models in the size of the woofers. The 6.5″ and 5.25″ speakers feature polypropylene cones and inverted dust caps.
The crossovers of the two D-series debutants from M&K appear to be identical. These are compensating phase shifts of the second-order circuit with a crossover frequency of 1.6 kHz. The manufacturer promised imperceptible cross-linking of the ranges and “exceptional detailing of low frequencies independently of each other.”
The M&K Sound D85 and D95 speakers sell for $650 and $800 respectively in the US.
