Urus is also a bull
Diablo, Murcielago, Gallardo, Aventador, Hurricane … In the last couple of decades, Lamborghini traditionally named its models after the most ferocious bulls in the Spanish bullfight. However, Urus has deviated from tradition a bit. And not only because this is the first crossover in the history of the brand. The word Urus (the name Aurochs is also found) in Latin is one of the distant ancestors of modern cattle. Moreover, outwardly, these wild animals were most similar to the Spanish fighting bulls, bred in the last 500 years. So the new Lamborghini, although not named after a specific bullfighting bull, is directly related to animals.
He’s not that small
At first glance, the Urus appears to be a small and heavily run-down car, however, this is a visual trick – in fact, it is not so small. Its length is more than 5 m (5112 mm), its width is 2 m (2016 mm), and the wheelbase is 3 m (3003 mm). Hence the impressive volume of the luggage compartment – 616 liters. And if you fold the backs of a pair of sports seats in the second row, then the useful volume can be increased to 1596 liters. It is still a little unusual to admire the trunk of a Lamborghini, though.
He’s faster than a Bentley Bentayga
The Urus is built on the MLB Evo platform that powers the Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga. Aluminum is widely used in the multi-link suspension design of this chassis, and most of the Urus’s body is also made of winged metal. However, these decisions had little effect on the weight of the crossover – Lambo weighs 2200 kg.
However, the heavyweight did not interfere with the dynamics of the car. The Urus is powered by a new four-liter twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that develops 650 hp. and 850 Nm of torque (available in the range of 2250-4500 rpm). Paired with an 8-speed “automatic”, this unit accelerates the Urus to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds and can accelerate it to a maximum of 305 km / h. For comparison, the gasoline version of the Bentley Bentayga crossover with a 608-horsepower six-liter W12 engine gains the first “hundred” in 4.1 s, and its maximum speed is 301 km / h.
The Urus has a full drive. Traction between the axles is distributed by a Torsen differential. In addition, the crossover received an adaptive air suspension with adjustable ride height and active roll suppression, which is powered by an optional 48-volt system. Finally, the novelty is equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes with 10- and 6-piston calipers at the front and rear, respectively.
Also, traditionally for all Lamborghinis, six driving modes are available to the Urus driver: Strada (Highway), Sport (Sport), Corsa (Race), Sabbio (sand), Terre (Ground), and Neve (Snow) ). Depending on the selected control electronics select the optimal settings for the operation of the power unit, transmission, suspension, and steering.
Actually, this technology will allow the Urus to become the most massive Lamborghini model in history. Next year, about 1000 of these cars will be produced, and in another year, production will increase to 3500 cars.
