Google Classroom Features Overview
Google Classroom or “Google Class” is an Internet service for online learning. Allows you to create courses, conduct webinars and test students.
In fact, Google has collected several of its tools in one service. Among them, a disk for storing files, Google Docs for publishing text lectures, presentations, polls, a video meeting service, and a calendar for planning training.
Google Classroom is completely in Russian. Suitable for schools and universities. In the article we will analyze the possibilities of the service, its advantages and disadvantages.
Google Classroom suits schools and universities
Google has developed a service for schools, colleges, universities and non-profit organizations. There is a necessary minimum for launching online learning: from the course editor to a convenient calendar for planning classes.
One of the main drawbacks is that there is no support for the SCORM, Tin Can (xAPI) and cmi5 standards, which allow you to create interactive e-learning courses. We will discuss more about what is still missing from Google Classroom below.
The service is available for free
To open your virtual classroom, all you need to do is create a Google account . Right after that, you can add students, create a course or test, and host a webinar.
Google Classroom is available for free if you don’t receive tuition fees. You can create 30 courses per day and share them with 200 people.
In the free version, you can train up to 200 people per day. If you need more, you will have to purchase a paid subscription. As of February 2021, prices start at $3 per student per year.
Online courses in Google Classroom are easy to create
A course in Google Classroom is a collection of materials on a single topic . You can combine ready-made text documents, videos, presentations that you uploaded to Google Drive into a course, or create one from scratch.
To organize the materials, each course can be divided into topics – it’s like chapters in a book.
