Orbit is the first fully wireless headphone in the Campfire Audio portfolio. According to the brand’s tradition, the description of the novelty contains another story from the series told by the fire (translate the phrase Campfire) about Captain Francis Aristarchus. But the headphones themselves are worthy of attention. First of all, their speakers with a 10 mm liquid crystal polymer (LCP) diaphragm are interesting – this proprietary development made its debut in Orbit, and there are no such emitters in other models of the brand yet.
The sound is promised to be “big and punchy”, with a wide stage and lots of detail. For this, it is worth thanking the speaker and the architecture of the chamber in which it is placed. According to the developers, they sought to embody the features that make Campfire Audio wired headphones recognizable in the wireless model.
Headphones received active noise reduction, and telephony capabilities and use Bluetooth 5.2 with adaptive AAC and aptX codecs, transmitting resolutions up to 24 bit / 48 kHz. And all this is capable of continuously (that is, without taking it out of the ears) working for 8.5 hours. The charging case will add another 30 hours. Then the Orbit owner can use USB-C charging (with the ability to quickly recharge) or even a wireless Qi option.
The angular two-tone case of each of the headphones, according to the manufacturer, has an “extremely comfortable shape.” The nozzle and mesh on it are made of stainless steel, which adds durability.
On the case there are touch controls that can be reconfigured in a proprietary mobile application. There is also a seven-band equalizer with the ability to save settings. The list of functions may expand with future firmware.
In addition to the headphones themselves and the charging case, the kit also includes a cable, six pairs of nozzles (three of them are memory foam) and a badge with the company logo.
In the US, on Amazon or simply on the Campfire Audio website, Orbit headphones are sold for $250.
