Bentley Bentayga is the first SUV in the history of the company, which, according to the head of the British brand, is the most powerful, fastest and most luxurious representative in the class. The world premiere of the new Bentley Bentayga took place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015. Recall that back in the spring of the twelfth, the British demonstrated the Bentley EXP 9 F concept in Geneva, but its too extravagant appearance did not appeal to potential buyers then.

As a result, the design of the model was sent for processing. And only in March two thousand and fourteen appeared the first photo of the serial version of the Bentayga SUV, which was named after a rock formation on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria. The design of the novelty was declassified in August, thanks to the pictures of the scale model. The exterior of the Bentley Bentayga 2020 SUV is made in the traditional brand style with a characteristic grille and round head optics. The car also stands out with its muscular fenders, large taillights that elegantly incorporate the letter “B” and large wheels, available in diameters from 20 to 22 inches.
Salon Bentley Bentayga can be four- or five-seater, and later an optional third row became available (in Russia they ask for a surcharge of 237,500 rubles). Of course, luxurious finishing materials are used here, including high-quality leather (15 color options), natural wood inserts (seven types of veneer) and metal. The front seats with many electric adjustments are equipped not only with heating and ventilation, but also with a massage function with six modes. In the four-seat version, the same features are available to the rear passengers, except that there are slightly fewer adjustments.
Also on the back are detachable 10.2-inch Android tablets with 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support. In front – a fully digital instrument panel, a head-up display, an 8.0-inch multimedia system screen with a 60 GB hard drive. Buyers can choose from three stereo options, the top of which (Naim for Bentley) has 18 speakers with a total output of 1,950 watts. For a surcharge, the center console is offered the installation of a Breitling Mulliner Tourbillon gold mechanical watch, encrusted with diamonds and equipped with an automatic winding function. The cost of the option is an impressive $170,000. But a two-section panoramic roof with a sunroof is standard on the Bentley Bentayga, as well as an automatic valet, all-round cameras, adaptive cruise control, a night vision camera and many modern security systems.
The overall length of the 2020 Bentley Bentayga SUV is 5,141, the wheelbase is 2,992, the width is 1,998, and the height is 1,742. Thus, the car turned out to be slightly larger than the new Audi Q7 II , on which it is built on an upgraded platform (MLB) . The Bentayga has 430 liters of boot space, a tailgate with a touch-free opening and closing system, and a retractable picnic chair as an option. The curb weight of the Bentley SUV is 2,422 kg, and 236 kilos made it possible to save fenders, sidewalls and a number of other structural elements made of aluminum.
Already in the base Bentley Bentayga is equipped with air suspension with adjustable ride height and electric power steering with variable gear ratio. Active anti-roll bars are available as an option to counter roll while maintaining good road holding and high comfort. The Bentley Bentayga 2020 is powered by a new 6.0-liter W12 turbo engine with two turbochargers and a half-cylinder cut-off function at light loads. It produces 608 hp here. (at 6,000 rpm) and 900 Nm (in the range from 1,250 to 4,500 rpm) of torque, which is transmitted to all wheels through an 8-band ZF automatic and distributed between the axles by a Torsen differential in a ratio of 40:60.
The new Bentley Bentayga takes 4.1 seconds to accelerate from standstill to hundreds (like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S), and the maximum speed is unlimited and reaches 301 km / h against 284 on the top Cayenne. The engine combines direct and distributed injection and is equipped by default with a start / stop system – its average consumption in the combined cycle is declared at 12.8 liters per 100 kilometers. The control electronics on the Bentayga has eight operating modes – four each for driving on hard surfaces and off-road. The first are Sport, Comfort, individual mode and Bentley mode, which combines Comfort and Sport. The latest are Snow & Grass (snow and grass), Dirt & Gravel (dirt and gravel), Mud & Trail (slush and ruts) and Sand Dunes (sand).
On the opening day of the Frankfurt motor show, it was announced that the company had already received 3,600 orders for the new Bentley Bentayga, i.е. the entire annual quota of cars was sold out almost immediately, and the very first car went to Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. Her Majesty’s family received a car from the limited First Edition series (only 608 of these were produced) – the cost of this modification starts at $ 355,000, and with all the options the price of an SUV can reach $ 775,000.
At the same time, the base price tag for a car with W12 starts at 160,200 pounds in the UK, from 208,500 euros in Germany and from 15,948,700 rubles in Russia, and for the diesel version they ask from 11,900,000 rubles. The manufacturer is currently considering increasing production volumes so as not to create too long a queue. Initially, the company planned to sell 3,500 vehicles annually, with China and Russia also mentioned as important sales markets. Later, an all-terrain vehicle modification with an electric supercharged diesel power plant appeared in the line, plus a “charged” Bentayga Speed, a hybrid and a version with a 4.0-liter V8 with 600 horsepower are expected.
