Apple HomePod Mini
Apple has apparently been installing sensors for measuring temperature and humidity in the HomePods mini for some time. These should now be activated via update.
With the presentation of the new Apple HomePods, news about the HomePod Mini also trickled into the light of day. Apple is said to have installed sensors for temperature and humidity in the small smart speaker for a long time. So far without function, an update should bring these features to life soon.
Apple HomePod Mini: Previously unknown sensors detected
The Apple HomePod Mini has been available from Apple for a number of years. So far, the smart speaker has attracted attention in the Apple universe with its amazingly rich sound and good speech intelligibility. Two more features should now be added without having to replace your old HomePod Mini. When the second generation Apple HomePod was announced, it was revealed that the large HomePod will also have sensors that can measure temperature and humidity.
We compared the technical details of the HomePods and the HomePod Mini. The interesting thing is that this feature is now also listed on the HomePod Mini. A footnote states that the thermometer and hygrometer should work best in a range between 15 and 30 degrees and at a humidity between 30 and 70 percent. What’s interesting is that the same footnote also sounds a warning.
The accuracy of the sensors should decrease if you listen to music loudly for too long. So maybe you turn it down a little beforehand if you want to measure the temperature. You can see how we rated the HomePod Mini compared to other smart speakers in our leaderboard:
Apple HomePod Mini: unexpected features at no extra cost
For example, after an update, the sensors could allow the HomePod Mini to close the shades when the temperature rises above a certain level. This can – as it should be the case with smart speakers – relieve you of work. In addition, this news can save you money. The HomePod Mini currently costs around 100 euros. The new HomePod, on the other hand, is just under 350 euros. Thanks to Apple’s foresight, you may now be able to save yourself the investment in the more expensive HomePod. As long as you only care about the smart features.
