Paramount Pictures has announced the release date for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie.

The release date for Sonic 3 Movie has been revealed on the franchise’s official Twitter page. As indicated in the post, the film about the new adventures of the super-fast Sonic the hedgehog will be released on December 20, 2024. A GIF animation with Sonic and his fox friends Miles “Tails” Prower and Knuckles the Echidna was attached to the publication. And in the comments they wrote:

“Run faster, fly higher, and hit harder. Sonic 3 Movie will hit theaters on December 20, 2024.”

Judging by the GIF and the text of the post, in the third part of the series, Sonic will again unite with Tails and Knuckles – one just flies, and the second hurts. And Sonic will really need help in a new mission. The scene after the credits of the film “Sonic 2 in the movie” hinted that in the prequel the hero will face a very fast and strong Shadow the Hedgehog.

In the games, Shadow the Hedgehog was created by Robotnik’s grandfather, who was played in the films by Jim Carrey. The GUN bosses made the decision to put Shadow into suspended animation, as they considered him too dangerous for humans. And in the new movie, this guy is sure to do something terrible. However, in the end, Shadow can go over to Sonic’s side – as was the case with Knuckles.

In Sonic 3 the Movie, James Marsden and Tika Sumpter are likely to reprise their roles as Tom and Maddie Wachowski. But Jim Carrey may not return to the role of Dr. Robotnik. The actor decided to leave the cinema at least for a while. In the post-credits scene of Sonic 2 Movie, it was made clear that Robotnik had died, so the authors of the new film would not have to explain why the villain did not return.
