volleyball-shaped audio portable
“Hear the magic, feel the drama,” Singapore-based UB+ appealed to potential buyers (investors) of the dB1 portable speaker on the Indiegogo website. The device most of all resembles a volleyball 185 mm in diameter, however, it is heavy for sports equipment – 2.8 kg. But with the handle extended, it is somewhat similar to weight.
The weight is justified, as it claims 20 hours of continuous use from a built-in 2,500 mA battery that charges via USB-C. In addition, along with the dome tweeter, there was room in the cabinet for a 4.5-inch woofer with a magnet diameter of 90 mm – the largest, according to UB +, in the industry.
The speaker works on a pair of oppositely directed passive radiators that continue both the shape and texture of the case. Moreover, Indiegogo even shows a frequency response graph with a confident range of 40 Hz – 20 kHz. The SPL is also declared at 93 dB.
The novelty uses Bluetooth 5.3 with telephony support and control from the proprietary UB + Seek application. It, in particular, provides for equalizer settings and a selection of saved profiles. Traditionally, the speaker is also capable of receiving an audio signal on a 3.5 mm analog input. Polycarbonate body combined with waterproof fabric (grill), complemented by a calfskin strap on stainless steel sling swivels. All this is waterproof in accordance with the requirements of the IPX5 standard. The column in black, gold or silver finishes has already begun to arrive to its first owners.
Still available on Indiegogo, the UB+ dB1 is priced at $332 for US buyers, excluding shipping.
